Ingredients
Urea
Urea is an essential part of the skin’s Natural Moisturising Factor (NMF) and forms around 7% of it by weight. It helps skin stay hydrated. It’s small molecular weight allows it to penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin and provide lasting hydration. Studies have shown that topical urea is an effective treatment for dry skin, dermatitis and even fungal acne, when in a fungal acne-safe formulation such as this one. As we age, the level of urea, in our skin declines, leading to skin dryness and dehydration. Topical application of urea is an effective way of making up for that deficiency.
Glycerin
Glycerin, like urea, is also found in human skin. It is a well-known, highly effective humectant. Glycerin facilitates the skin’s barrier function, and normal exfoliation process, among other things, making it essential for maintaining healthy skin and preventing conditions like dull skin, acne and eczema.
Panthenol
Panthenol, or pro-vitamin B5 readily penetrates into the skin where it is converted to pantothenic acid, i.e., vitamin B5. It is a also a humectant and effectively hydrates and moisturises skin. It also facilitates wound healing.
Honey
Honey has been used for its therapeutic value for centuries. It inhibits the growth of microbes, including the fungus responsible for fungal acne; it has anti-inflammatory properties, and promotes wound healing. It also hydrates the skin, improves blood circulation in the skin's deeper layers, and helps fight skin ageing.
Allantoin
Allantoin is also naturally found in the human body and is also commonly found in the food we eat. It helps wounds heal faster and it is commonly added to skin care products to moisturise the skin and soothe irritation.
